Hand swabs are designed to harvest particles of interest from various surfaces for analysis by the instrument. Hand swabs are produced under strict laboratory controls and manufactured using the highest quality paper available. Swabs are packaged in contaminant free recyclable trays and sealed for maximum freshness and longevity. Trays simply insert into DSA’s Sample Box for dispensing.

An operational assessment performed at checkpoints showed that the area of the swab used to screen passengers is not always the same area placed in the instrument for desorption and analysis. DSA Detection solved this issue by making the hand swab easy and error-free to the checkpoint operator. This was accomplished by embossing the target area and make it visible so the operator can swab both passengers and cargo and position the swab correctly for desorption.

Clean cotton gloves (Large, Small) are required when handling sample or calibration swabs to prevent contaminants such as natural oils, dirt and lotions from interfering with the performance of the instrument.
