IED Casualties in Afghanistan on the rise, roadside bombs cause 70 to 80 percent of casualties to coalition forces,  and are more lethal than previous years, reflecting insurgents' use of more powerful explosives and the increased vulnerability of troops who patrol more on foot than in the past.
