Critical Infrastructure Protection PDF Print E-mail

A global approach to understanding the terrorists, and how they have used explosive devices to achieve their objectives. These lessons dissect the past devices that have been used and the new emerging threats and trends. The aim of these lessons is to raise the awareness of possible threats that will have to be countered and the inherent risks associated with each.

Overview
Detailed threat assessment with the fallout being a protection plan that can be applied to any building or facility. The details will include techniques and procedures being used today to protect and secure critical infrastructure.

Procedures will include

  • Vital infrastructure protection:
The details will include techniques and procedures being used today to protect and secure critical infrastructure.
  • Protection equipment:
Threat assessment for the facility and the tools that protect it, specific to IED Defeat and response.
  • Scenarios - Render safe exercises:
Live fire training exercises. All stages of an IED response will be shown and the problems and concerns associated with each action. The lessons learned will highlight the training focal point of every response team.

MKDS Infrastructure protection assessment will combine if needed, first responders training to include:
Scenario based training
Scenarios will be presented and discussed to include various attacks on critical infrastructure, discovered at different times to show the importance of combined and joint first responders working together to solve the problems of establishing cordons to managing the crowds of emotional citizens to carrying out the RSP. This will include CBRNE scenarios.

Terrorist techniques in gaining access and targeting principles
In this full day of training the operator now has the chance to fulfill the role of the terrorist planning an attack on a high value target. The critical infrastructure will be infiltrated through information gained in open source information systems and other resources to identify the difficulties of planning and then the associated risks of implementing the plan.

IED/VBIED descriptions and targeting principles (Small, Medium & Large devices)
The full range of devices will be discussed and presented to include military and domestic type devices and switching mechanisms and the recommended targeting principles that should be employed against a given threat. Models using the components will be connected to allow for the students to see how the components can be used and the relationship that has to the disruptive technology that should be employed to ensure RSP success.

IED Circuit disablement - Understanding IED switching and disablement techniques

This course will outline the results of several disrupter trials and associated technology understanding trials with a view to understanding capabilities and limitations. Energy output will be discussed and a training methodology introduced which will raise the operators level of understanding of technology and what countermeasure should be deployed against a given threat.
