Assault IED Defeat operations & planning PDF Print E-mail

Overview
At MKDS we provide your organization with a custom package, specific to your requirements.

Mission:
To introduce IED operators and commanders to a range of overt and covert techniques used in the rapid assessment and neutralization of hostage and access denial devices, during hostage rescue and counter-suicide bomber operations.

Background:
Assault IEDD is a highly specialised skills-set enabling selected operators to rapidly assess and neutralise access denial and body-borne IEDs during land-based, aviation and maritime interdiction operations.  Assault IEDD differs from generic IEDD in that the overriding aim of the operator is to maintain the momentum of the assault in a hostile (non-permissive) environment by facilitating the assaulters reaching their objective safely, rapidly and with minimum risk of compromise.

Assault IEDD Operations and Planning training introduces delegates to a number of scenarios outlining the tactics,
techniques and procedures (TTPs) necessary to stabilise and neutralise complex IEDs used during hostage rescue and rapid interdiction operations in hostile (non-permissive) environments.

Training focus will include:

  • Assault IEDD Concept of Operations
  • Considerations for the Preparation and Modification of IEDD Kit for Assault IEDD operations
  • Introduction to multi-switched and complex IEDs, including hostage and suicide-type devices.
  • Device Marking Techniques during Assault IEDD Operations
  • Assault IEDD Operator search techniques (in light and dark conditions)
  • Radiography considerations for Assault IEDD operations
  • Pre-Attack Countermeasures, Issues and Responses
  • Suicide IED Effects:  Introduction to Air Blast and Post-Blast Pathology
  • Assault IEDD operations in buildings
  • Assault IEDD operations in offshore energy Installations
  • Assault IEDD operations on aircraft
  • Assault IEDD operations on buses and large vehicles
  • Stealthy neutralisation techniques
  • The use of subterfuge in dynamic interdiction operations
  • Introduction to critical failure points
  • Introduction to special weapons and equipment used in Assault IEDD Operations
  • Counter-measures deployment and considerations
  • Command and Control of an Assault IEDD Operation

Objective
At the conclusion of this course, students will be able to advise on the defeat of hostage, suicide and access denial
devices during the full spectrum of land-based, aviation and maritime interdiction incidents.
